Frequently asked questions about clutch repairs

We get the same questions from many of our customers so rest assured you are not the only one who needs a little bit of guidance when deciding what is best for your car.

The most common reason for premature clutch failure is caused by riding your clutch. Even the slightest pressure on the pedal will partially disengage the clutch, causing the release bearing, pressure plate and flywheel to overheat.

How long a clutch lasts is very my impacted by how you drive and use your clutch. If you ride your clutch, you will most likely be needing maintenance or replacement sooner than expected.  Most clutches are designed to last approximately 60,000 miles before they need to be replaced. Speak to us and we can advice you. We’ll even show you your old parts.

We can have a look at your car and advice you on what your car needs. You can try this little test…. press the clutch as far down as you can and take your foot off. It should come back up to its starting position quickly. However, if it gets stuck or comes up slowly, then it’s starting to wear out. You should also feel even resistance in the pedal as you press it down.
